A marketplace for publicly owned Danish intellectual property has proven to be such a crowd puller that its organizers have decided to increase capacity substantially.

At the market, the first ever Danish IP- Fair on May 9th 2017, investors and industry scouts get to meet the most entrepreneurial and innovative researchers from Danish universities and hospitals at a series of one on one meetings. Originally, six slots of 30 minutes were available for meetings with each inventor. Now nine investors get to meet their prospective golden goose for half an hour.

A wide range of opportunities

The opportunities are many and varied when all publicly owned Danish research institutions join forces to present their brightest ideas to companies from all over the world. Among the inventors are a number of researchers based in Copenhagen Science City, and at the personal meetings and in the exhibition hall visitors can view inventions ranging from fluorescent dyes with novel capabilities and user interfaces for industrial robots over next generation energy storage to new antibiotics targeting MRSA.

Four groups of inventions

100 different technologies and inventions will be on display at the Confederation of Danish Industry, who will host the event at their domicile in Copenhagen, Denmark. The intellectual property is grouped in four main categories.

• Biotechnology and healthcare
• Advanced materials and technologies.
• Digital- Information- and communication technology.
• Energy and environmental technologies.

High return on invested time

Chances of leaving the fair with business leads are high. In 2015 the publicly owned research organizations closed 190 licensing- sales- and option- deals even without an IP fair to use as a showcase.
