Meet Dr. Robert Langer, the most cited engineer in history, for a BioInnovation Institute “Talks on the Square” event. Dr. Langer is a researcher and inventor within biotechnology. His patents have been licensed or sublicensed to over 400 companies. His research on combining synthetic polymers and mammalian cells has led to the creation of FDA approved artificial skin, of approaches for creating new blood vessels and spinal cords and of a treatment for hearing loss, which is in clinical trials.

Dr. Langer has written over 1,450 articles, which have been cited nearly 300,000 times; his h-index of 267 is the highest of any engineer in history. He has more than 1,360 issued and pending patents worldwide which have been licensed or sublicensed to over 400 companies. The journal Nature credits Langer as being the founder of tissue engineering.
